Click here to jump to a course description: Creative Writing - Grades 4 - 6 Public Speaking - High School/Adult Creative Writing - Grades 4 - 6 With class topics such as “Onomatopoeia What?” and “To Be or Not To Be: Verbs and Adverbs,” this course will answer all those questions you never even thought to ask about writing! By using a hands-on approach of games and interactive lessons, students can improve their grammatical and English language skills while really bringing out their creativity. Some outside writing will be required. The course will be taught by Ms. Suzanne Gattis. Ms. Gattis graduated with honors from both the University of North Texas with a BA in journalism and with an MA in Mass Communication from Texas State University. She has worked in advertising and public relations both large and small and has spent the last few years freelancing and teaching at both the middle school and college level. This six-week class will begin on Monday, April 28th and run through Monday, June 2nd. The class will meet from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at our Westlake office. Course tuition is $249 per student and includes all materials. Class size is limited to six! Contact us today to reserve your spot. Public Speaking - High School/Adult What is the one thing that is both feared more than death by over half the human population and that also is cited most by colleges and employers as the top skill they are looking for? That’s right…public speaking! In this Introduction to Public Speaking course, students will learn the keys and tools for creating a speech from start to finish, from analyzing their audience and researching topics to standing up and actually presenting. (At least three speeches will be given during this course.) Students will come to understand how the communication process actually works, which will make them better speakers, writers and listeners. This 7-week class is geared toward ninth grade and above. Adults are also encouraged to apply. The course will be taught by Ms. Suzanne Gattis.
